Cyprus is a beautiful island in the Eastern Mediterranean and is very popular with British holidaymakers. Cyprus has a vast history spanning over 3000 years, been ruled by many from the Mycenaeans, Phoenicians, Egyptians, Assyrians and Persians after of which ruled Alexander the Great then Ptolemy. The Romans also ruled from 58 BC where peace remained until the 7th century when for three centuries the Byzantine & Islamic empires argued over the country. In 1191 Richard the Lionheart ruled on his way to the crusades which he then sold Cyprus to the Knights Templar. In 1489 the Venetians ruled until the Ottoman Empire in 1571. The Ottomans ruled for 300 years until the Ottomans gave Cyprus to Britain.
In 1925 Cyprus became a crown colony of the UK until Cyprus was given its independence in 1960. In 1974 the Turkish army invaded & took one-third of the Island in the north. Until this date this beautiful island has been split by the two Cypriot & Turkish Cypriot communities. Every ruler mentioned has left their mark on this beautiful Island where visitors today may still see.
Dubai - More affordable than you imagine
Dubai holidays are frequently used by visitors from all walks of life and not simply the well fixed, according to a traveling guide author Lara Dunston, writer of the DK Eyewitness guide to Dubai, acknowledged that the location has accumulated a reputation as a "resort area for the rich", but suggest that this is for the most part because of media playacting on the basic fact that "glamor sells".
Tourists who travel to the city will quickly realize that there was far more to be viewed and experienced than simple flashiness and glamor, according to Ms Dunston.
"It also has a plentiful inheritance and culture settled in Beduin customs of hospitality and Islam, as a country its a piece of the United Arab Emirates, don't forget Dubai is a city-state and its Arabian peninsula neighbours," she said.
"Visitors from all around the globe, all walks of life, from Russian package vacationers to Australian backpackers to English families visit Dubai.".
