ANTALYA

The Duden waterfalls have their watercourse from Duden River and the falls end at a rocky cliff that enables the water to flow into the Mediterranean. Antalya is home to one of the most breath taking beaches in Turkey, that is, the Konyaaiti. It consists of sandy and shingle beaches.

Compared to other beaches the water in Konyaaiti is cooler because an underground creek feeds the Mediterranean at this point. In terms of historic buildings the Hadrian’s gate tops the list in Antalya. This gate is believed to have been the same one that the Queen of Sheba passed through as she went to see King Solomon. Patara

This is an ancient Lycian town that is mainly characterized by the ancient ruins located at the sea shore. These ruins consist of a ruined temple that has a circular pit that was considered the Oracles seat in ancient history, a theatre and the city’s walls. It is also well known for the Patara beach that is 18 kilometers long.

Antakya

In terms of religion Antakya also known as Antioch in ancient times is rich with it. Antakya is the place where followers of Christ were first known as Christians. The city is located in Hatay province in Turkey. Some of the major sites in this area are the Hatay Archaeology Museum that is known for massive collection of Roman mosaics from the Romanian era, St. Peter’s Church which is considered as one of the oldest churches in the world. It is a cave that was carved on the side of Mount Starius. Antakya also hosts the one of the oldest mosques known as Habib-i Neccar Cam ii. Antakya is mostly a religious city.

Olympos

This city has to offer you sandy beaches that rest on the Olympos Mountain. In turkey this mountain is known as the Tahtali Dagi in the local language. It was believed to be the dwelling place of the gods hence the name Olympos in ancient times. To get to the mountain summit one has to use a cable car otherwise known as teleferik. The sea offers a great view from the summit. For lovers of hiking this is definitely the place to be when you are in south of Turkey.
